Continuing Education Unit

IACET LogoThe International Association for Continuing Education and Training and the US Department of Education Task Force define one continuing education unit (CEU) as 10 hours of non-credit training. This training must be taught by qualified instructors and organized by a responsible group.

A CEU measures the time you spend learning in continuing education programs. CEUs help people keep their skills current, learn about new products or technologies and stay updated on industry rules. CEUs are awarded by education and training providers when you complete non-credit courses that improve your knowledge and work skills.

CEU Approval

The Office of Academic Planning and Accountability and Continuing Education (APA-CE) is the university's authority for granting CEUs. APA-CE has the responsibility for reviewing, approving, reporting and maintaining permanent records for all CEU activities.

For a program to be approved for CEUs, email the APA-CE for approval guidelines at continue@fiu.edu.
